The demand for new parts for the character creator was challenging to keep up with. Adding more people helped increase the amount of content we could make, and add even more complexity to what people could make.
Explorations into new 3d printing tech allowed for more detailed, durable minis. And eventually, after years of testing, color printing was good enough for this tiny scale. Through carefully designed automated systems, we were able to add color options to the library of thousands of parts.
